How to throw a Sustainable Party

Hey everyone! Coming from a Sindhi household, parties have been a prominent part of my life since childhood. I can still recall the laughter, the colors, and the joyous chaos of every birthday celebration, each one etched in my memory. I bet you remember your birthday parties every year, too. They are full of excitement, laughter, and delightful moments.

Planning parties is fun for me, and making them sustainable is even more fun! Keep reading this article to find out more about throwing your first sustainable party! As the size of parties increases, so does their carbon footprint. Birthday parties cause a lot of waste and garbage. Sustainable parties are a great alternative and a fun way to bring so many people together without harming our planet or contributing to greenhouse gas emissions.

Let’s kick off the event with an enticing theme. Let’s look at our options. The theme could range from “Green Party” to “Garden Party” or “Vintage Picnic”. For our party, let’s choose “Vintage Picnic”. Guests can dress up to match the vintage vibe.

Let’s create a fun and crafty invitation. Digital invitations are an excellent way to invite guests to a party. Here are some benefits: Digital invitations lower the carbon footprint, reduce paper waste, conserve energy and water, and reduce the use of chemicals. A bonus benefit is that they are quick and efficient, which saves us more energy! You can make these invites crafty and creative. A website I recommend using is Evite. The website has various fun options, including various designs and patterns. There is also a set of free templates. Now that our invitations have been sent out, let’s decorate our house for the party! Tick Tock, the birthday clock says it’s time to create DIY decorations.

To add a pop of color, you can create eco-friendly confetti. Cut up a few pieces of biodegradable tissue paper. You can buy 25 sheets from Amazon for £3.38. You can chop them up and sprinkle your tables with this confetti.

For a pleasant fragrance, you can use rose petals. They are pretty, pink and plentiful. Moreover, they have an aromatic scent. You can cut them up and decorate your bowls with them. They will leave a fragrant touch.

For cups, let’s use reusable bamboo cups. You can buy a pack of 4 for £15 off of Amazon. I would say that is a pretty good deal. As they are Eco-Friendly, they reduce the amount of plastic waste generated by disposable cups. They are also sturdy, making them ideal for parties.

What’s a party without fun games? Get ready to elevate your sustainable party with an array of thrilling games that will make your night truly unforgettable! We can start off the Vintage picnic with a fun ceramic pot painting event. This is a great eco-friendly activity for your party. Provide each guest with a ceramic pot plant and a paintbrush. You can put an array of color paints in the middle of the table. Games like Charades and Monopoly, which don’t require single-use items or electricity, are sustainable and fun. Additionally, outdoor games such as Frisbee and volleyball are eco-friendly options too.

Many people are not familiar with such parties and fall for the belief that sustainability can’t be fun. Through this blog, I wanted people to see that sustainable parties can also be fun and affordable. There is this misconception that eco-friendly products are more expensive, but there are a lot of affordable alternatives, and I hope this example was helpful in showing that. Thank you for reading, and hope you have a great sustainable party!! And if you have some suggestions please do reach out and share them.
